Hope walks
Our 2024 project is to sponsor and enroll 200 children with clubfoot into the Hope Walks program in the Dominican Republic.
Hope Walks grew out of another beloved KC beneficiary, CURE International. Doctors through CURE were faced with so many needs to surgically care for older children with untreated club foot. As a result, they realized their time and resources would be better spent treating children at birth with simple casting and braces. The program quickly grew within CURE. In 2018, the CURE board agreed that the clubfoot program could thrive independently of CURE.
From Hope Walks: “Motivated by our Hope in Christ, Hope Walks frees children and families, families and communities from the burden of clubfoot, with a vision that all children born with this treatable disability will have access to world-class early intervention and families will experience the love of Christ. We aim to serve all children born with clubfoot. Early treatment is key to successfully eliminating disability, so our goal is to begin treatment for all children shortly after birth and ideally before the age of one.”
Today, Hope Walks works in 15 countries across Africa and Latin America in partnership with 165+ established government and faith-based health centers providing quality early intervention and support to families while demonstrating and expressing the love of Christ. This year, we are excited to raise funds to specifically sponsor 200 children in the program – life-altering treatment is possible!
