The dream center
Our 2024 project is the Annual Back to School Bash + The Foster Care Prevention Program.
The Back to School Bash has grown to be so much bigger than we ever imagined. It is a beautiful and FUN way to be part of the community and give kids all they need for going back to school, handing out over 2,500 backpacks full of school supplies. We are excited to join forces again with the incredible Dream Center team for their Annual Back to School Bash, late summer 2024.
In addition, The Dream Center serves 310 families (801 Children/436 Adults), which is about 25 new families, through their Foster Care Prevention Program, every month. Closed 79 open DCFS; Reunified 33 families and helped 50 families avoid separation. The most staggering thing is the need for this service... even with these impact numbers, they still average a waitlist of approximately 20 families every month.
The Department of Children and Family Services reported that nearly 200 kids are separated from their parents simply due to poverty-related issues every month. To help prevent these and more families from being separated, the Foster Care Intervention (FCI) Program was established to assist these families by providing furniture, food, clothing, appliances, and other basic items needed to allow parents to retain or regain custody of their children. We are excited to partner with The Dream Center to help with the Foster Care Prevention Program.
Los angeles Dodgers foundation
Our 2024 project with the Los Angeles Dodgers Foundation is to build two Dodger Dreamfields in Hawthorne
Dodgers Dreamfields is LADF’s longest-standing program – building and refurbishing baseball and softball fields at existing parks and recreation sites across LA. These projects ensure that youth in the communities have access to more safe, vibrant space to play, while giving families a safe haven and points of pride. This year, LADF will break ground on two fields in Hawthorne. In 2024, we are excited to help make these two fields a reality.
